In an exciting last race of the season, Anya Malarski (Second Chance p/b Zubaz) earned an A for her win in the Eleven & Out points race last night for the category 1/2/3 women.  She pipped Carolyn Stanley (Major Taylor Cycling Club) for the final sprint win and secured the tie-breaker over Heidi Goodson (Birchwood) to take the novelty night crowd-pleaser.

Goodson entered the third sprint having won the previous two, with Malarksi taking second both times. Needing 11 points, exactly, to win, Goodson needed to take fourth place to add one to her 10 points. Malarski needed five, a first place sprint, to take the win.

At the third bell, Stanley attacked and gained 30 meters on the field. Malarski counter-attacked to come alongside Stanley in turn four. The Major Taylor rider battled, but Malarski was too strong and won by a half-wheel. The sprint win gave her the 11 points she needed to win - and the tie-breaker over Goodson, who had taken fourth place for 11 total points.

The race could not have been tighter and the final decisive sprint had the crowd on its feet.
